Research profile
Human-centered autonomy.
My research interest is in designing autonomous and intelligent systems that people can understand, guide, and trust. I am particularly interested in interfaces for communicating human intent, supporting appropriate intervention, and creating effective collaboration between people and robots.
Human-guided autonomy
How can people communicate goals, preferences, corrections, and situational knowledge to autonomous systems?
Mixed-initiative interaction
How should an intelligent system balance proactive assistance with human agency, oversight, and control?
Embodied & immersive systems
How do embodiment, spatial context, and affect shape understanding and trust in interactive systems?
Research throughline
Human-Robot Interaction
Beginning doctoral research with Dr. David Porfirio in the Autonomous Robot Interaction Lab, focused on HRI and human-centered intelligent systems.
Human-in-the-loop AI products
Designed mixed-initiative product flows in which AI detects problems, explains evidence, recommends actions, and waits for human approval before consequential execution.
Affect and learning in VR
Built Unity-based VR environments and interaction-data pipelines for research on emotion elicitation and recognition in immersive educational settings.
Spatial interaction in virtual environments
Studied spatial memory and navigation using World-in-Miniature interfaces, extending Unity experiments for interaction and data collection.
Methods & technical foundation
Interactive prototyping
Unity, C#, React, JavaScript, Python, rapid functional prototypes, and end-to-end product implementation.
Intelligent systems
LLM orchestration, PyTorch, MediaPipe, multimodal pipelines, deterministic safeguards, and human approval mechanisms.
Research practice
Experimental design, literature review, interaction logging, user-performance analysis, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Open to connection
Interested in HRI research internships and collaborations.
I am especially interested in human-guided autonomy, end-user robot interaction, mixed-initiative systems, and interfaces that make autonomous behavior legible and controllable.
